On the 9th of April 2020 CROS NT conducted a webinar focused on the use of enrichment designs for reducing placebo response and thereby enhancing signal detection. This webinar described the use of a Sequential Parallel Comparison Design (SPCD) to increase the chance of success of clinical trials, especially trials with possibly high placebo effect. Over time, a progressive increase in placebo response has been observed in controlled clinical trials in psychiatry.
Webinar learning outcomes:
- Impact of placebo response in clinical trials
- How the SPCD design improves efficiency of signal detection
- Statistical analysis of SPCD studies
- SPCD examples in clinical trials
The webinar was presented by:
- Dr Maurizio Fava MD – Psychiatrist-in-Chief of Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research of Harvard Medical School
- Dr Tri Tat – Principal Biostatistician of CROS NT
